The eye as a character? Yes, but in the typographical sense of the term. Observed by Isabelle Rozenbaum, the eye takes on the shape of a letter or an ideogram. It is written in calligraphy, it is redesigned with care and elegance by Geneviève Paillé, closely following the rules of geometry and art on downstrokes and upstrokes. Open and full-frontal, it is an ellipse. In profile, a cone. Closed, it is no more than the arc of a circle, seeming to smile from inside. Each of her figures is a letter that takes shape in the text of the face. Between lines and surfaces, as if studying a new printing character, Isabelle explores the eye from all angles, making it legible in every directions and meaning.
