While feet walk and legs sketch a few steps, heads bend down and hands with big palms bar access to faces. The men of Mathieu Spohn are delivered to us without heads to emphasise their bodies. Powerful bodies, troubling in their nudity, sculpted by light and shade, barely emerging from darkness for fear of being seen. A very masculine modesty for which man plays a match of arm-wrestling between head... and legs: and even if it never happens again among the representatives of the strong sex, the body holds the head high... Unconventional and splendid.
