Can a room or space have a life of its own? Or do our objects and decorations give life to the space? Matthieu Spohn explores this dichotomy in images that capture spaces absent of people but populated with their presence. In an open book, a newspaper, or a half-finished cup of coffee, he captures empty spaces that allude to a larger human presence, an action interrupted, or a story paused in time.
