Royalty Inclusive or "Royalty Free" images
The term "royalty free" can be misleading. At PhotoAlto, we prefer to use the term "royalty inclusive".
In fact, the purchase of usage rights on a single image or CD allows you to use the image without restrictions concerning the duration and limitation of print run on many different types of media platforms (print, multimedia, etc.) for you and your clients with respect to our
license agreement .

Single Images
The majority of our images are available on CD or as single images. All image references beginning with the letter "P" or "Y" are sold on a CD and as a single unit. If the image reference begins with an "F" or "D", the images are only available as a single image. You can determine which CD each image is from by identifying the first 3 numbers in the image reference. For example, if the image reference is PAA105000023 you know that the image is from CD 105. The numbers at the end of each reference indicate the image number on that particular CD. For example, if you use the reference number from above, PAA105000023, you know that you are looking at image number 23 on CD 105.
The pricing structure for single images depends on the size you wish to purchase. There are four image sizes:.
-Comping 75 dpi for web usage and multi media (119 EUR)
-10MB for an A5 (half page) print size at 300 dpi (319 EUR)
-25MB for an A4 (full page) print size at 300 dpi (399 EUR)
-50MB for an A3 (double page) print size at 300 dpi (429 EUR)
The 50MB is available for the majority of our single images and for all CDs starting with volume 204.
Please note that all files have been compressed in order to make sending and receiving the files more accessible through email links. When a JPEG image is compressed, it is divided 7 to 10 times during the download process. Therefore, it is normal for a 25MB file to appear as a 3MB file. When you open your file in Photoshop®, for example, you will see that the image is the actual size you purchased.
PhotoAlto CDs
The price of our CDs is 629 EUR. Each CD contains 50 to 120 images with a minimum format of 25 MB (except CD #1 to 5). If you find a particular image you are interested in, we suggest that you also view the CD in which it came from. In some cases it is more advantageous to purchase an entire CD rather than a single image especially if you are looking for multiple images to be used on one specific project. Please remember that image references beginning with an "F" indicate that the corresponding image is only available as a single image.
Creating a PhotoAlto account
The creation of an account only takes a few minutes. New clients may register by clicking on the "my account" selection on the homepage. This will take you to a sign in page where you will have the option to create a new account. Once you are registered, you are able to download comping images without watermarks for presentations, manage lightboxes, and access your shopping cart. The images in your lightboxes are available for three months from your last modification.
You must have an account to purchase an image or CD from PhotoAlto. Once you have registered and have placed the item(s) you wish to purchase in your shopping cart, you will proceed to our license agreement. Please read this carefully as it goes into further detail about the usage rights for the single image or CD you are about to purchase. After you have agreed to our license agreement, you will proceed to a secure payment site. The payment processor is provided by Ogone, one of the European leaders in this sector. PhotoAlto does not keep any data concerning your credit card information.
After validation of payment by Ogone, a link will permit you to download the image(s) or virtual CD(s) you just purchased.
The physical CD(s) will be sent to you via GLS, delivery takes usually 1-3 working days (additional delay for custums clearance for orders from outside of the EU)
You will also receive an invoice within 3 days.

Image Search
An image search can be performed by using keywords, reference numbers, CD titles or specific themes.
A keyword search is done in English. We suggest that you use words that are most current and also use the verb infinitive without using articles or preposition.
For more precise searches, you can use two or more words simply by leaving a space in between each word when performing a keyword search. For example, you can type ?business people? if you are looking for an image that contains more than one person in a business setting. This advanced search will give you a better result than if you were to use just ?business? or ?people? in a single keyword image search.
For more general searches, there is an option to search by theme. Instead of starting a search with keywords like ?elderly person,? for example, we recommend using the theme ?Seniors? to give you an overview of what we have available in our collection.
