The seniors viewed through Patrick Sheándell O’Carroll’s camera lens are obviously filled with joie de vivre. In love with life, these people are ageless. Spurred on by the photographer’s playful approach, they feel free to shed their years and their inhibitions. Neither too remote from his subjects nor too close, the photographer remains a spectator while at the same time being fully involved, and manages to find just exactly the right tone. Flooded with light, his images are instinct with serenity and convey the pleasure of sharing special moments. It’s as simple as that!
